Gurmeet Uppal
Hello, I’m Gurmeet! As a motivated and passionate student psychotherapist, I strive to bring a
compassionate, reflective, and client-centered approach to my work under clinical supervision.
My approach is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique lived
experiences, and I aim to offer a warm, grounded, and non-judgemental space where individuals
feel safe to explore their emotions, experiences, and personal stories.
I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to support clients in ways that best fit their needs.
I also value working from a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive lens, as I believe this is
essential in understanding each person’s lived experience and in supporting meaningful,
individualized care.
As a second-generation Punjabi-Canadian woman, I bring a nuanced understanding of the roles
that cultural expectations, intergenerational family dynamics, and personal identity can play into
shaping one’s experiences. I am mindful of how culture can shape the way we experience
ourselves, our relationships, and our mental health, and I strive to hold space for cultural
diversity with openness, respect, and care.
I view therapy as a collaborative process, and I am committed to supporting individuals as they
navigate challenges, build self-awareness, and move toward healing and personal growth.
