Carly de Bakker

Carly has experience in community non-profit mental health as a support worker and case manager and she also works for the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) conducting mental health and substance use assessments which has equipped her with valuable skills and insights that inform her practice as a counsellor.Her passion for accessible mental health and experience navigating complex systemic and structural barriers has led her to pursue counselling with the desire to create a safe and collaborative environment necessary to facilitate meaningful connection,personal growth,strength and resilience.

Carly believes in the importance of human connection and adopts a person-centred stance influenced with cognitive behavioural,dialectical behavioural,Adlerian and solution-focused therapeutic approaches and she is continuously adding to her repertoire with on-going learning and clinical education.She works with clients in understanding their life’s journey and exploring their emotions and experiences while embracing a trauma-informed,culturally sensitive,non-judgmental,and curious attitude.Carly addresses concerns such as anxiety, stress, depression,self-esteem and self-confidence,life stressors and transitions, involvement with the criminal justice system,substance use,addiction,and interpersonal relationship challenges.Overall,she is a compassionate and devoted counsellor here to support clients in creating and upholding a meaningful life aligned with their personal values and goals.
