Gwyneth
Gwyneth (or Gwyn), a South Asian immigrant woman of color, has navigated the complexities of her own intersectional identity, which has shaped her resilience and adaptability. Growing up in a bicultural environment, she understands the pressures of balancing family expectations while striving for personal and professional success. These experiences have not only informed her journey but also fueled her passion for helping others, especially those who are new to therapy or dealing with anxiety, depression, life changes, ADHD, and neurodivergence.
With over five years of experience working in social services, particularly with individuals with developmental disabilities, Gwyneth has honed her ability to build strong rapport and create a safe, supportive space for her clients. She views counseling as a collaborative process, using a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment theory, family systems therapy, and self-compassion to empower her clients on their path to self-acceptance and growth.
Gwyneth has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Human Services Certificate from Trinity Western University and is enroute to attain her Master's in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She also holds certifications in Trauma-Informed Practice (Level 1 + 2) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1).
Through empathy, compassion, affirmation, and gentle challenges to long-held assumptions, Gwyneth strives to validate and encourage her clients. She believes that the capacity for healing exists within each person and that growth flourishes through meaningful connections. Her greatest joy comes when clients connect with their emotions and their bodies in the present moment, leaving therapy feeling more aligned with themselves and others.
