Karina

Karina is a pre-licensed therapist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from Simon Fraser University and is currently completing her Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology with distinction. She aims to support and honour her client’s healing journey by providing a safe therapeutic environment along with a gentle and empathetic approach that is centered on collaboration.

With a heartfelt understanding shaped by her lived experience as a second-generation South Asian cisgender woman, Karina brings a culturally sensitive perspective to her work, offering services in both English and Punjabi. With over five years of experience in counselling and crisis support, she supports youth and adults navigating trauma, mood disorders, panic disorders, concurrent disorders, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, and perinatal mental health challenges. Karina understands the unique challenges women face at every stage of life and provides inclusive affirming care that embraces the full diversity of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Her approach is guided by respect, empathy, and a strong commitment in supporting each client’s journey.

Karina integrates evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), alongside Somatic healing practices. She respects and honours each client’s unique healing journey, offering compassionate and individualized care through a holistic lens. Karina has level one training in Trauma-Informed Practice, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Art and Play Therapy, and Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder. She also holds certification in Mental Health First Aid, Foundation in Violence Against Women, Concussion Awareness, and ASSIST suicide intervention. Her extensive training allows her to provide thoughtful, individualized support, helping each client feel seen, heard, and empowered on their path to wellness.
