Kayla Fazio
Kayla is currently completing her supervised practicum at Wellness North while pursuing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree at Yorkville University. She is working toward registration with the BCACC following the successful completion of her program. Kayla also obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, along with a Minor in Counselling and Human Development, from Simon Fraser University.
Her personal and educational experiences have fostered her desire to work in this field, where she is especially passionate about supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, relationship challenges, and those new to therapy. Her current training and genuine curiosity have strengthened her ability to provide a supportive, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where clients can feel safe to explore their experiences at their own pace and work toward meaningful, positive change.
Kayla’s approach is grounded in cognitive-behavioural therapeutic modalities while integrating elements of DBT, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and person-centred approaches. She works from a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed perspective and recognizes that therapy is not going to be one-size-fits-all, adapting her approach to each client’s unique experiences and goals. Kayla views counselling as a collaborative process and strives to create an empathetic space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. Her goal is to support clients in building insight, learning acceptance, developing coping strategies, and gaining practical tools they can apply in their daily lives.
Outside of her work, Kayla enjoys trying new restaurants, cheering on her favourite sports teams, working through her TBR list, bingeing new or popular TV shows, spending quality time with friends and family, and planning her next travel adventure
