Maryam Tehranchi, RCC
Maryam (she/her), is a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia and a PhD Candidate of counselling, offering services in English and Farsi to couples and individuals who are feeling stuck and/or unfulfilled in life.
Once an individual reaches out to Maryam, she begins the work of exploring the powerful, yet often invisible forces that can shape our lives and move us away from our values and toward distress. Over the course of therapy sessions, She engages her clients in guided self-reflection that generally results in a gradual unfolding of insight, the illumination of a meaningful path forward, and the courage to move through fear in service to their preferred life. This journey is often about changing what is changeable, while positively leaning to manage the unchangeable.
Maryam brings a wealth of educational and life experiences that includes but not limited to a career in preschool (educator and manager, principal), motherhood, a long marriage, a variety of creative pursuits, a lifelong commitment to wellness, a later-in-life return to university, variety of counselling and therapy sessions and navigation of her own life challenges.
Working as an educator contributed more to her understanding and empathy toward her clients, as well as an ability to hold space for deep emotional expression. Maryam draws inspiration from several evidence-based models of therapy including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, EFIT, and Gottman method of couple therapy. The way, she engage with these, and other approaches is orchestrated by the unique needs, strengths, and personal resources that my clients bring to the therapeutic process. Maryam focus on how you make meaning of your challenges and strengths, within the broader context of family, community, and society.
Maryam’s passion is in individual therapy, couples therapy, trauma, and grief.
