Miyu

Miyu is a Japanese-Canadian student from Athabasca University completing her Masters in Counselling. She holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Simon Fraser University with a Minor in Counselling and Human Development as well as a Minor in Criminology. 

Miyu completed her diploma in art therapy at the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute. She believes that creativity and visual arts are powerful tools to untangle difficult thoughts and feelings. Her strength lies in fostering a calm, compassionate and exploratory environment. She recognizes the importance of tailoring therapy modalities to each unique individual.

Miyu’s multicultural background and professional experience supporting seniors as well as neurodivergent youth, allow her to make authentic connections with diverse people. She also has experience supporting people experiencing depression, anxiety, stress and challenges related to aging. She also has an understanding of individuals living with invisible and chronic illness and disabilities. 

In her free time, she enjoys journalling and scrapbooking. She loves animals, nature, arts and music.
