Preya

Preya holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Simon Fraser University and is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.

With over 5 years of experience in the mental health field, spanning both frontline and leadership roles, Preya brings a well-rounded perspective to her clinical work. Her background has shaped a deep understanding of mental health challenges at both the individual level and within broader social and systemic contexts.

Preya’s approach is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and strength-based. She recognizes how the communities and systems we grow up in shape our identity, worldview, and mental well-being, and she believes therapy must honour these unique lived experiences.

She is certified in Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Care (Level 1) and integrates these principles into her work with clients.

As an Indo-Canadian and first-generation daughter of immigrant parents, Preya draws on her lived experience of navigating a bicultural identity, balancing collectivist family values within an individualistic society. This lens informs her culturally responsive approach to care.

Preya is passionate about supporting individuals through life’s complexities, including trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, body image and self-esteem concerns. She draws upon a wide variety of modalities but is particularly interested in supporting adults using modalities such as Emotionally focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based practices, and trauma-informed approaches.

Grounded in compassion, empathy, and non-judgment, Preya is committed to building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. She looks forward to walking alongside her clients as they grow, heal, and reconnect with themselves.
